MKPLUS has advanced the research, development, and commercialization of the next-generation Vanadium Solid-State Battery (VSB) as an innovation-driven energy technology company originating from Japan.
The origins of this technology can be traced back to 2010, when a research group was established at Tohoku University in Sendai.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The group developed a new membrane material capable of safely encapsulating semi-solid vanadium, leading to patent applications in Japan and the United States in 2016 for its use in battery systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Full-scale commercialization efforts began in 2020 through a formal partnership with Tohoku University. In 2021, an industrial-scale prototype was completed, establishing the technological foundation required for mass production.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the first quarter of 2022, the prototype passed performance testing conducted by T\u00dcV in Germany, obtaining international certification. By the fourth quarter of the same year, a pilot production facility in Japan had begun operations, further solidifying the path toward implementation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Global expansion accelerated in the first quarter of 2023 with the establishment of EMPlus in Austria, creating a strategic base for European operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

EMPlus is not a subsidiary but an independent entity holding exclusive licenses for sales, distribution, and technology development in the EMENA region (Europe, Middle East, and North Africa).
By transferring EU patents and regional exclusive rights related to VSSB technology, MKPLUS strengthened its collaborative framework with EMPlus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Through participation in the Burgenland state acceleration program and the Austrian government\u2019s COMET program, research and industrial collaboration in Europe has progressed steadily.
Meanwhile, market development has also begun in the United States, further expanding the company\u2019s global footprint.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    On April 30, 2024, EMPlus successfully completed its Series A funding round.
