On January 29, 2025, an event was held in Vienna, Austria to confirm the stable operation of our 500Wh battery module.

After the event, our Austrian subsidiary (official name: Ewig Macht Plus GmbH, abbreviated as EMPlus) received an official order for 2.5 GWh of storage batteries (initial unit price: 1,500€/kWh) from the Austrian state government of Bougainland.

The project will be promoted with appropriate support from the Austrian and EU governments.

Project Details

This order consists of the following five phases.

  1. Confirmation of 1 kWh module (~end of June 2025) *Completed

  2. Confirmation of 10 kWh module (by the end of September 2025)
  3. After the completion of the second phase, the EU issues a Certificate of Availability and places a formal order for 2.5 GWh

  4. Commercialization and characterization (by the end of March 2026)
  5. Start of deliveries (all deliveries to be completed between April 2026 and 2030)

Currently, small-lot production using small mass-production machines is underway at Sendai Laboratory 2 for the second phase.

Expected effects

In the EU region, there is growing skepticism and negativity toward the construction of energy storage plants using existing lithium-ion rechargeable batteries due to the risk of accidents such as fires. As a result, expectations for non-lithium-ion batteries (which may include lithium-ion all-solid-state batteries and sodium batteries) are increasing.

No other new battery technology has succeeded in developing kWh-level modules at this time, and MKPLUS and EMPlus have received many inquiries, especially from renewable energy companies in the EU.

When this project reaches the third stage, it is expected to lead to further large-scale orders.
